For men and women, formal suits are typically worn to organised events such as weddings, funerals, or school formals. When wearing a formal suit, it is recommended that you follow the classic white shirt with black suit jacket and black tie or bow tie fit, but this may vary depending on the nature of the occasion.
For a bit of personal flair, you can add a pocket square without detracting from the ensemble. And to present in the most fashionably smart and sophisticated way, peak lapels are the best choice. For women, it is common to wear a more slim tailored fit with light colours, though this is ultimately up to your personal preference.
Although it does depend on your styling choice, navy blue suits are a versatile look that play between the boundaries of formal and semi-formal. For night-time events, a darker navy is a solid choice, while daytime events allow you to go lighter in colour.
